Call for Professional Development Course Proposals and Platform/Poster Abstracts

You are now able to submit proposals for ABSA International’s 4th Biosecurity Virtual Symposium. The symposium will take place May 12-13, 2026. The professional development courses will occur virtually and dates will be posted by January 2026. The virtual symposium presentations (platform/poster) will take place Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13.

If English is not your first language, ABSA International has volunteers from the International Engagement Committee who are willing to work with you to refine your abstract submission. Please contact education@absa.org with “Abstract/Proposal Assistance” in the subject line. Requests for assistance are to be sent no later than September 12, 2025.

ABSA Requirements

  • All sections to the submission site will need to be completed as requested
  • Be sure to carefully read the instructor and/or speaker guidelines prior to starting your submission. Please be sure to read through all the policy information within each of the submission sites.

OASIS Portal Log-In
Previous users: you will use your login information from the previous year. For new users only: you will need to create an account on the OASIS system where it reads, “Click here to create a new user account”. You will be prompted to enter your contact information, and to select a new login and password for use with the abstract submission system.

Please note: if you forget your password, you will need to click the link “Click here if you have forgotten your password” on the OASIS login page. The ABSA Office will not be able to retrieve this information for you.

Professional Development Course Proposal Submission Information

Submission deadline: October 1, 2025

  • Follow the instructions as requested by the submission site and complete all submission steps
  • To complete each step, make sure that you have entered information into all the required fields and click “Continue” to save your work
  • When you have completed your work, click the “review my work” link to verify that your submission is complete and finalized as intended
  • If requested, the Oasis Abstract System will send you a confirmation email once your submission is complete

The course description is limited to 2000 characters including spaces. Each proposal will need three (3) measurable learning objectives.

Platform/Poster Abstract Submission Information

Submission deadline: October 1, 2025

The abstract should be one paragraph succinctly describing your proposal, there is a 2600-character limit including spaces. Please keep the following items in mind during the submission.

  • Required: Include three (3) measurable learning objectives for your abstract. There is an allotted 800-character limit including spaces total for these three (3) learning objectives.
  • The following are recommended to be included in your abstract but not required:
    1. Introduction to study and objectives
    2. Methods used
    3. Results
    4. Conclusions

Author names and institutions must be listed correctly in the system. The first author listed will be the presenting author for the symposium.

Review the abstract and make sure it is in FINAL presentation format before submitting. It will be published as written.

Review Process

Each of the submissions will be reviewed by ABSA International’s Biosecurity Symposium Steering Committee for Professional Development Courses and for the Platform/Poster Abstract Submissions. Notifications of acceptance for professional development course proposals and platform/poster abstracts will be made during the months of November/December 2025 respectively.
